To Tell the Truth - Part 3: “Teaching Good is Good Teaching.”

Sermon Series: To Tell the Truth

Speaker: Pastor Bill Wilton

A Sermon On: Titus 2:1-15

Theme:  All religions and philosophies claim to hold to the truth.  Christianity teaches that “the truth” is found in the work and person of Jesus Christ and in the scripture that proclaim him as Lord. Yet, even within Christianity, it seems that there is a wide diversity of, so-called, “truth.”  Many of these “truth” actually contradict one another.  So, what is the “truth” that Christianity teaches?  What should be at the heart of our beliefs?  What is at the core of our teaching?  What is “sound doctrine?”

The Apostle Paul wrote to his friend and fellow Church planter on Crete and offered him instruction and encouragement as he sought to establish the Christian faith in the various cities around the island. Paul’s exhortation to Titus focuses on teaching sound doctrine that leads to Godliness and establishing leaders in the Church that will be committed to doing the same.

Part 3: “Teaching Good is Good Teaching.” – Paul exhorts Titus to faithfully teach good works and godliness in the Church.

The Seven Words - Part 7: “Commit”

Sermon Series: The Seven Words

Speaker: Pastor Bill Wilton

A Sermon On: Luke 23:46 & John 20

Theme:  The New Testament Gospels record seven different conversations or topics addressed by Jesus while he hung upon the cross dying.  In preparation for our celebration of Resurrection Day we will take a look at each of these seven sayings, these dying words of our Savior and seek to find meaning and direction for our lives as his disciples.

Part 7: “Commit” – Jesus’ last words before his death were, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”  What were the effects of Jesus committing his spirit into the Father’s hands?  His death! But from his death comes his resurrection.  We too, must commit our lives into the hands of God, experience death to our sin, but then rise and live for Christ.
